Grateful

Mott Hospital Patient Experience week was the end of April. Me and Mom and Dad volunteer at Mott a lot for Office of Patient Experience and Patient and Family Centered Care since 2011 when we got our first invite to join.

We do speeches and zooms and they have me tell my medical story to new medical teams, fellows, anesthesiologist, social workers. Groups like that. I used to do teen advisory council when I was a teen which was really fun. We have even done roll playing where I pretend to be the sick hospital kid and they pretend to be the stressed out parents. I think that one is funny cuz that is what we are like.

Me and my family have been really busy with baby showers and weddings and getting ready for my nonprofit 5k. These are pictures from Mott patient experience week and I really was so happy going and seeing so many of my friends. It is very hard and nervous for me to transition to the U of M adult side. I worry about my medical care and if my new teams will work well together like they do at Mott. I worry cuz they don't know my complicated body and stuff like my Mott teams do. I still see a bunch of my Mott doctors that want to keep me until 2026.

And Dr Hirschl said he will always be there for me. Dr Park said a few years ago he'd take care of me forever. And I know he will cuz he is my guardian angel now. I will always be a part of Mott cuz I will always volunteer and talk with the different groups for them. And I'll keep raising money to help Mott medical families just like mine through my nonprofit! And I'm going to train Phoebe my puppy to visit kids at Mott!
