Hello everyone,

It has been a while since we have updated Larry’s website, but that is not an indication that we aren’t very, very busy and feeling so much joy with Larry’s nonprofit success. To date, Larry’s nonprofit has provided 48 grants to Mott Hospital patients and their families totaling more than $50,000 in funds awarded. That has been in just 11 months! Grateful! Grateful! Grateful! This makes us so happy, as we completely understand the need for families at Mott to receive emergency financial assistance. We have lived it, and understand, and just want to help. This help has been made possible to these families because of ALL OF YOU!
In August, we had our first 5K and 1mile fundraising event. RUN WITH THE BEAR was so much fun. Attendees were a wonderful group of friends, family, neighbors, strangers, Mott Hospital staff, Mott patients, Pinckney students, alumni and staff, Arc Livingston community, and even a great many pet therapy dogs, not to mention virtual runners from all over the country…I could go on and on! We had countless donations and sponsorships! The community came together to help patients with life threatening complex medical issues at Mott Hospital and individuals with disabilities. We are beyond grateful to everyone and very thankful for all of our volunteers that came together and made our first 5k & 1mile FunRun event a huge success!

Next year, we are adding a 10K!!!

Update on our family: Larry Jr is doing well. He is recovering from a bad bit of sepsis/gram positive cocci, on his face. His face!! Molly married Elliot on September 16th. Steve and Shannon are expecting identical twins. Kate and Carter married on October 28th. Stephanie and John have been a great help to our nonprofit work. Michael officiated both Katie and Molly’s weddings and did a fabulous job. The last few months have been insanely busy. Our son and his wife’s new baby twins are having some struggles, and we are asking for prayers for healthy mom and healthy babies. Mike's doggy-boy, Moss has stage 4 cancer. This has been very hard on Mike, Larry Jr and our family. Please pray for peace. Thank you!

Thank you to Pinckney Community Schools and Pinckney Athletics for fundraising during “PINCK Week” for the Larry Prout Jr Courage Fund! All week long, the week of Monday, October 9 through Friday, October 13, Pinckney Schools, Pinckney Athletics, Student Government, NHS, students, cheerleading, dance team, football, marching band, swim/dive, volleyball and more and many athletes/teams did fundraising events. Throughout the week they held events throughout the district. Proceeds benefitted Larry’s NP. Events include coin drive, volleyball, swim and dive, field hockey, powder puff, football on Friday, the selling of luminaries and miracle minute fundraising. Our family attended as many of these events as possible. We missed the Friday night football game for Molly’s Florida wedding.
Upcoming events:

Euchre Night. Brighton Optimist Club and Eternity Brewing in Howell are holding Euchre Night to benefit Larry’s NP. Brighton Optimist holds events a few times a year where they pick a local nonprofit who they want to give the proceeds to. They picked The Larry Prout Courage Fund! November 14, 6pm. Tickets on sale October 11 through noon, day of event. Limit of 40 people. Thank you, Brighton Optimist Club and Eternity Brewing in Howell!
Giving Tuesday: Takes place on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in November. This year, November 28. This is a social media fundraising day. It’s designed to promote fundraising for nonprofits and encourage individuals to donate to their favorite nonprofit. Sometimes, philanthropists match the funds that a nonprofit raises on this day.

As some of you know, Larry's dear friend and surgeon since I was 20 weeks pregnant with Larry, Dr John Park, is battling cancer. He is very dear to Larry and our family. Larry Jr has been inconsolable. Thank you to all of you who have written to Dr. P. His wife Hellen has messaged to say that these notes have helped distract him from his illness. Sarah Harbaugh was instrumental in planning a day for John and his family to attend a home Michigan football game. John messaged Larry Jr that he had a very happy day and that it was a wonderful send off as he begins chemo treatments. Thank you for praying for and sending notes to Larry's hero, Dr Park.

Dr John P has started a blog documenting his journey. Here is the link if you would like to read: mynewlifejourney.blog
Thank you all, and please stay safe!

Love, The Prout family and the board members of the Larry Prout Jr (The Bear) Courage Fund. Happy Thanksgiving!
