Another reason we have a nonprofit in honor of Larry -- Being in the hospital on Christmas.
Larry's health has been just awful since April of this year. He has been in and out of the hospital, has had surgeries, infections and tremendous pain.
His quality of life has gone way down. There is no quality of life.
We could see this reoccurring abdominal infection and complication in Larry's anatomy rear its ugly head again as Christmas neared. The last couple weeks we have had him in and out of the clinic, on new antibiotics, cath-ing his ostomies to help get stuff out, help with pain. Following Larry's medical provider's instructions. We did everything we could at home to keep him home for Christmas. I had him sleep in bed with me last night so I could help him and be right there next to him.
When he rolled over to me around 3:30 am and said, "Mom, this is killing me," I grabbed Dad, who was in little Larry's bed, and we both agreed it was time to get out the big guns. We know when we've been beat. So, Larry has just admitted to 12East at Mott. He is very sick and in tremendous pain.
Like many families with loved ones with chronic, life threatening, ongoing medical issues, these issues can strike at any time. Christmas included. Larry has spent I think 5 or 6 Christmases in the hospital. That means are whole family goes with him. And he is not the only one up there right now. Many families celebrate Christmas up there at Mott.
Again, that is why we do what we do. To help these families with gasoline, groceries, hotel, and Christmas gifts to just name a few.
We have given approximately 150 grants to Mott hospital families to date. If you can donate to our nonprofit, $500 dollars helps one family. We get applications every week, throughout the week. These families need money. Trust me, we know. You take a big financial hit when you have a loved one in the hospital. Especially during any holiday. Thank you to all our old and new donors. We appreciate all of you.
Please pray for Larry Jr. He is really suffering. He needs prayers and he needs his surgeons to figure out why this keeps happening over and over. The pain he is in is inhumane. No one should have to face that kind of pain. Especially a young person.
Our whole family is heading up there at 5 to take him his gifts and to let him give the gifts he for everyone. Doing what we can to cheer up our strong, brave and courageous Bear.
